Core Applications Manager

• Qualifications/Experience
• Undergraduate/Honours degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related.
• At least 7 years of experience in application management, software development, or a related role.
• Proficient in programming languages such as Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript
• Experienced with database management systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL)
• Skilled in using development frameworks and tools (e.g., Spring, .NET, Angular, React)
• Knowledgeable about software developmentmethodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum)
• Experienced in API development and integration.
• Familiar with cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Familiarity with core banking and insurance systems.
• Ability to deliver high-quality, reliable, and scalable applications.

JOB PURPOSE

Manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of core applications, ensuring they meet business needs and
regulatory requirements.

Key Result Areas

• APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT
• Oversee the development and enhancement of core applications.
• Ensure that applications are developed in line with best practices and industry standards.
• APPLICATION REVIEW AND TESTING
• Conduct regular code reviews and testing to ensure the quality of applications.
• Coordinate with the IT team to resolve any development issues.
• Conduct regular system tests to ensure compatibility and performance pf integrated applications.
• SYSTEM INTEGRATION
• Ensure seamless integration of core applications with other systems.
• Coordinate with the IT team to resolve any integration issues.
• Implement and maintain application processing interfaces (API’s) and other integration tools.
• PERFORMANCE MONITORING
• Monitor the performance of core applications and systems, identifying and resolving performance issues and bottlenecks.
• Conduct regular system audits and performance assessments.
• Implement performance optimization techniques to enhance system efficiency.
• COMPLIANCE
• Ensure that core applications comply with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance.
• Develop and maintain documentation for all core applications.
• QUALITY CONTROL
• Implement quality control measures to ensure the reliability and security of applications.
• Develop and implement quality standards andprocedures.
• Conduct inspections and tests to identify defects and ensure compliance.
• TEAM MANAGEMENT
• Supervise and mentor Core Applications Developers,
• Core Banking System Specialist, Core Insurance System Specialist, and Systems Administrator.
• Set performance objectives and conduct regular performance evaluations.
• Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
• LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT
• Provide learning and development opportunities to enhance team skills.
• Provide training and support to end-users on application functionalities and best practices.
• Create user manuals and training materials to facilitate user adoption.
• Develop and implement disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
• Conduct regular tests of disaster recovery procedures to validate their effectiveness.

• Apply design thinking principles to develop user-centric applications.
• Foster creativity and innovation by understanding user needs and addressing pain points.
• BUDGET MANAGEMENT
• Manage the budget related to application development, including software licensing costs and resource allocation.
