QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in real estate, Property Management, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Registered with Valuers Council of Zimbabwe (mandatory).
- 3 years’ experience working under a registered Valuer.
JOB PURPOSE
Valuer is responsible for evaluating real estate properties to determine their market value for various insurance purposes,
including underwriting, risk assessment, and claims settlements. This role involves conducting site inspections, researching market data, and preparing detailed valuation reports. The Valuer ensures compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements, providing insights to support business decisions and client service delivery within the insurance company.
KEY RESULT AREAS
- Conduct site inspections to assess the condition, location, and features of properties.
- Research and analyze market data, including recent sales, property listings, and economic trends.
- Prepare detailed property valuation reports, including market value assessments and recommendations.
- Utilize valuation software and tools to support the valuation process.
- Provide accurate property valuations to support the underwriting process.
- Collaborate with underwriters to assess risks associated with properties.
- Assist in determining appropriate insurance coverage and premiums based on property valuations.
- Communicate valuation findings and recommendations to the underwriting team.
- Collect and analyze data on local real estate markets, including trends in property values, rental rates, and supply and demand factors.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of economic indicators and their impact on the real estate market.
- Identify and evaluate comparable properties to support accurate valuation assessments.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements in all valuation activities.
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports as required.
- Conduct regular audits of valuation files and records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Analyze property data to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement.
- Prepare regular reports on valuation activities, performance metrics, and outcomes.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for the valuation department.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing clear and accurate information regarding property valuations.
- Address and resolve client queries related to valuations promptly and professionally.
- Assist in preparing client presentations and reports.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with property valuations.
- Develop and implement risk management strategies to support business objectives.
- Monitor market risks and provide recommendations for risk mitigation.
- Utilize property valuation software and tools to conduct valuations and prepare reports.
- Stay updated on technological advancements in property valuation and recommend improvements.
- Ensure accurate and timely input of property data into the system.
- Attend and contribute to departmental meetings as required.
- Represent the valuation unit at internal and external functions when necessary.
